Peter Schwartz, Ph.D. brings a wealth of experience from academia and the private sector to Solaicx, contributing deep expertise in equipment design and process development. He has spent more than a decade guiding manufacturing improvement programs that enhance product viability, reduce costs, increase volume, and ease serviceability.
Having begun his career as an assistant professor at the University of Iowa, Dr. Schwartz quickly specialized in bridging the gap between academic technologists and private sector engineers.
At companies such as CVC Products (acquired by Veeco Instruments) and Irvine Optical Co. (acquired by Brooks Automation), Dr. Schwartz was able to successfully define and implement manufacturing improvement programs that enabled the companies to gain market dominance.
More recently, building upon his broad experience connecting technology with engineering and manufacturing in the semiconductor industry, Dr. Schwartz worked with Torrex Equipment Corporation to lead the design of the FlexStar Atomic Layer Deposition System. Under his direction, the team of engineers at Torrex Equipment Corporation developed a high volume manufacturing system that caught the eye of Applied Materials, which acquired the company and retained Dr. Schwartz as a director.
Awarded the National Science Foundation’s Research Initiation Award, Peter Schwartz holds M.A. and Ph.D. degrees in Electrical Engineering from Princeton University and a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Purdue University in the area of electronic materials and devices.
