OPPORTUNITY: Crop Saw Machine Operator

Reports to: Operations Shift Supervisor
Department: Manufacturing
Summary: Solaicx produces low-cost, high-efficiency silicon for the photovoltaic (PV) industry at our mass production facility in Portland, Oregon. We are seeking individuals to set up, operate, and maintain ingot shaping machines to cut silicon ingots into specified length and to work in quality lab to test product to ensure product meets customer specifications.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Sets up ingot holding fixtures in preparation for cropping and cutting
• Measures and documents processing, quality sampling, & material flow
• Interprets specifications on production documents
• Enters appropriate machine control parameters to achieve specified results
• Monitors the manufacturing processes for correct actions and outcomes
• Visually evaluates the quality of the product surface
• Manually measures the physical parameters of the product with precision tools
• Manually loads and unloads materials weighing up to 80lbs
• Calculates and enters statistical data on charts & forms
• Cleans and maintains equipment and work area
• Trains new operators as requested

 

Qualifications:

• A minimum high school education and at least 2 years experience certified in machine operations
• Must read and speak English to understand and teach the manufacturing technology
• Must be able to wear protective gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, and safety shoes while on the job
• Must be able to stand for extended periods of time
• Must be willing to work night shifts and weekends
• Must function independently, manage time and establish work priorities
• Excellent listening and team skills

 

Training:

• Company will provide training on the Crop Saw and product measurement
• Details to be discussed at the time of the interview

 

Hours:

• Full time; all shifts available
• Solaicx is a 24/7 operation
• Specific days and hours to be discussed at the time of the interview
