OPPORTUNITY: CHEMICAL ENGINEER

Reports to: Engineering Manager / VP of Engineering

Summary: Solaicx produces low-cost, high-efficiency silicon for the photovoltaic (PV) industry at our mass production facility in Portland, Oregon.  We are seeking individuals to design and develop ultra-pure material cleaning processes especially related to the handling of silicon material.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Use of chemicals, thermal processes, and sorting systems

 

Qualifications:

• 5-10 years of job-related experience
• BS or equivalent in mechanical engineering, material science, or chemical engineering
• Familiar with silicon properties
• Good understanding of machining processes, finishing systems, and processing systems such as powder processing as well as size-reducing equipment such as ball mills, grinders, and sifters
• Knowledge and experience in the following areas:
• Instrumentation used to measure impurities on both final product and starting materials (acid digestions, ICPMS, AA)
• Analytical wet chemistry / etch chemistry
• Chemical etching of silicon and cleaning of silicon surfaces to remove impurities
• Physical properties / identifying adequate materials to use in specific processes
